M-Power U (MPU) Parkinson’s Community

A learning community for Parkinson’s disease

What Is The MPU Parkinson’s Community?

The M-Power U Parkinson’s Community will serve the needs of people affected by Parkinson’s who are experiencing cognitive changes and early memory loss.

The group will consist of a weekly 3-hour session facilitated by SJFS’s brain health professionals. Participants will learn practical skills to help with cognitive changes related to Parkinson’s in a friendly and supportive setting with a group of peers.

How Can The MPU Parkinson’s Community Help?

Through learning memory and cognitive training, coping strategies, lifestyle skills, physical exercise, and educational presentations, members of the MPU Parkinson’s community will learn methods and coping strategies to improve their brain health and wellbeing.

Why Is The MPU Parkinson’s Community Important?

Cognitive changes and early memory loss due to Parkinson’s disease can be very overwhelming and isolating. Central to the MPU program is the introduction of memory enhancement activities, compensatory strategies for memory loss, peer support, exercise, and socialization to address the social, emotional, and physical changes that can accompany this diagnosis.
