M-Power U (MPU) Arts and Minds Community

A creative learning community for early memory loss

What Is The MPU Arts and Minds Community?

MPU is a weekly 4-hour session facilitated by SJFS’s brain health professionals who lead participants through creative activities. Participants learn practical skills to help with early memory loss in a friendly and supportive setting with a group of peers. The Arts and Minds Community emphasizes creative self-expression, skill building, memory enhancement, emotional processing, and communication through the arts. Participants engage in lessons and discussions on interesting topics about wellness and the arts before creating something themselves. The mediums used vary each week and include creative writing, painting, music, photography, sculpture, movement, and more.

No experience in the arts necessary! Fridays 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, pre-screening required.

Why Is The MPU Arts and Minds Community Important?

Central to the program are the creative activities, peer support, exercise, and socialization. Many of our current participants share that the relationships they have created through this group have been especially helpful as they navigate early memory loss. In addition to the relationships, the groups offer enriching activities for those who desire to continue learning into later life.

Cost

The MPU Arts and Minds community is $45 per session (lunch included) with scholarships available if there is a financial need. A discounted price is available if purchasing multiple sessions at one time (6 sessions for $250 or 13 sessions for $520).
