Music Therapy
What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is an established clinical health service in which music is used to address physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs of individuals.
After assessing the strengths and needs of each client, a certified music therapist provides the indicated treatment, which can include creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients’ abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives.
One does not have to be a musician or have any musical experience in order to participate in and benefit from music therapy!
Our board-certified music therapist works with clientele across the age spectrum and can assist with:
- Medical Care and rehabilitation
- Emotional and mental health (ex. caregiver stress, stress management, grief, trauma)
- Improving quality of life for older adults
- Memory Care
- End of life care and legacy work
We also offer non-clinical therapeutic music sessions and creative wellness programs for individuals, schools and school staff, organizations, community groups, companies, and health care professionals.
These sessions can focus on:
- stress relief and relaxation
- self-care
- social emotional learning
- team building and communication
- creativity development and reconnection
- improving workplace morale
- increasing resilience.
