Internships

About Our Internships

The interns at Syracuse Jewish Family Service are an essential aspect of the functioning for all our programs. We offer a variety of internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in social work, psychology, neuroscience, public health, and mental health counseling. Interns are involved in SJFS work both on the Menorah Park Continuum of Care Campus as well as in the larger community.

As an intern at SJFS, you may work individually as well as in group settings, using targeted strategies for working with older adults to support them in navigating the aging journey.

You may also choose to pursue research, analyze data, tackle a unique project, or co-create other mutually beneficial learning opportunities.

Our Internship Opportunities:

Interns at SJFS have the opportunity to be involved in just about all the programs and services we provide. Examples of intern experiences include:
  • Facilitating creative expression with the Opening Minds through Art program

  • Working alongside our care managers

  • Organizing and preparing Kosher Meals on Wheels

  • Conducting research on effective programs

  • Developing and facilitating learning groups

  • Friendly visiting with residents of Menorah Park

  • Therapy and counseling

  • Performing needs assessments

  • Training in a variety of evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions for older adults with depression and cognitive impairment
