What is The Magen Center?
The Magen Center provides non-emergency shelter for older adults that are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing abuse, and do not currently have a safe housing option. The Magen Center has 4 independent living apartments and is partnered with a long-term care facility that is equipped to meet the medical and memory care needs of shelter residents.
How can The Magen Center Help?
During a resident’s stay, which average about 2-4 months, the Magen Center provides:
• Case Management
• Counseling services
• Meals-on-wheels delivery or daily meal service
• Activity programming
Why Is Elder Justice Important?
Elder abuse often happens within the family, making it difficult for victims to access the support services needed. Elders can experience financial, sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse, requiring the need for services and safe shelter to heal in a supportive environment.
Cost
The first month at The Magen Center is free for shelter residents. After the 1st month, any additional time spent at The Magen Center will be subject to a prorated fee.
