Our Approach to Care

Our Approach to Care

We believe in the importance of a multidimensional approach to assessing individual wellness

Whether you enroll in one service or many, these interrelated factors will always drive your care at SJFS.

  • EMOTIONAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with your overall mood, your sense of hope about the future, and your emotions and reactions to events?

  • PHYSICAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with your physical health and your ability to do all that you can to support your physical health, such as through diet, exercise, and pain management?

  • COGNITIVE WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with regard to your memory and attention, your ability to engage in activities that promote brain health and lifelong learning, and your ability to feel in control of your well-being with regard to cognitive wellness?

  • RELATIONAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with the relationships you have with partners, family, friends, or others. In rating your satisfaction, consider the extent to which these relationships are meaningful and are two-way in nature: i.e. you matter to others and are supported by them, and you also have the opportunity to care for and support others?

  • CONTEXTUAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with your financial circumstances, your community, your living environment, and how these things affect your life?

  • VOCATIONAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with your ability to engage in meaningful activities that provide a sense of purpose, whether through paid work, volunteering, or any other circumstance?

  • SPIRITUAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with your participation in individual or communal spiritual and religious activities, and/or participation in communities that provide social support and fill the need for meaning and purpose in your life?

  • DEVELOPMENTAL WELLNESS: How satisfied are you with your beliefs and attitude toward the process of growing older? For example, do you feel that you have a healthy, realistic attitude about aging?
