BeWell Institute
BeWell Institute (Behavioral and Emotional Wellness Empowers Later Life)
What Is The BeWell Institute?
SJFS’s BeWell Institute offers regular psycho-educational opportunities on and off campus. A variety of individualized programs, events, classes and workshops are available to fit the learning needs of seniors, families and informal caregivers, as well as aging services professionals and students.
From one session to multiple sessions, one hour to full-day, we are available to help organizations build capacity and to consult on individual cases and issues. Case consultation is also provided, within the learning context of the workshop or inservice presentation.
How Can The BeWell Institute Help?
SJFS specializes in working with older adults and their families and service networks. We have expertise in and can address a variety of topics from an individual as well as a family systems or service provider perspective: mental health issues, brain/cognitive health, case management, caregiving, and aging.
Many facilities and groups bring in our staff to offer Zen and the Art of Graceful Aging, Art and Humanities, and other wellness-and-arts-based topics as part of SJFS’s Arts & Minds Initiative. We will work with you to identify the topics of greatest relevance to your population and offer them at the duration and frequency of your choosing.
Why Is The BeWell Institute Important?
It is not only clients who often need training and consultation centered on their issues and needs. When agency staff or stakeholder populations seek information, knowledge, skill building or consultation regarding our community’s fastest growing demographic, older adults, the professional staff of Syracuse Jewish Family Service offers workshops and inservices at their place of business, specifically tailored to the makeup and needs of their organization’s staff and clients.
